Thank you Debbie Ohi! |
But when I came across this very same scenario today at Millie Holmes' blog - thanks for the laugh, Millie - I had to post about it.
I think it's hilarious.
And I think I might try it.
Do you listen to music while writing?
How about listening to some music in particular to inspire a scene?
*****
I also posted over at Run Gwen, Run! today. Ever heard of the Love Doctor? Not what you think, I'm sure ;)
I will listen to music that inspires before I write, but not during. I like my house quiet. Makes it easier to hear the voices in my head. :)
ReplyDeleteMaria, now that's an idea. I may try that - I am easily distracted so that might work for me. "voices in my head" *snort*
DeleteI love your Friday Funnies! I must have silence when I write. Now when I workout that's another story.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie - but really, they're Debbie Ohi's funnies. They're just so spot on for all of us writers that they're funny, lol! Yeah, when I work out I have to have music, too.
DeleteI love listening to music before I write, it puts me in the mood, but when I am actually writing - I like quiet.
ReplyDeleteCaroline, I'm definitely going to try it before and see what I can come up with :)
DeleteI always listen to music when I write. If Nickleback kills a character, I'd recommend staying away from Pantera. Your whole story world might explode.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Alex. So you have to put on the proper music, just like in the funny:)
DeleteI listen to music. I even listen to the news when I write. Sometimes I'll half watch a movie.
ReplyDeleteHugs and chocolate,
Shelly
Shelly, that sounds more like procrastination, lol!
DeleteI never listen to music while I write as I can get easily distracted.
ReplyDeleteRachna, me too. But I might try it before to set the right mood.
DeleteI listen to music and sometimes I make myself cry.
ReplyDeleteDiane, then it really works for you! I'm just going to have to start planning music and certain scenes together and see what happens.
DeleteWasn't I following you before? Gah. Problem fixed! Gwen, great post. I totally can't listen to music when I write... but... it is my main source of inspiration so... it's complicated. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMorgan, I think you followed my other blog, but I split them up. And yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head - it's complicated, lol! Love it:)
DeleteLOL!! I can listen to very few things when writing, mostly need quiet. Otherwise, I could have a Cleanser trying to do a roundhouse kick during a confession when I she was doing was thinking about a roundhouse kick lol!
ReplyDeleteAngela, I can see how that would be a problem, lol!
DeleteSometimes I listen to music, but mostly I prefer quiet. I have eclectic tastes in everything, including music, so I think a set playlist might make me crazy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
Carol, my tastes are electic, too. You never know what might come out of my ipod.
DeleteI can't listen to music with lyrics when I write but I love to listen to instrumental soundtracks.
ReplyDeleteLynda, that's the way to go. Hmmm, I wonder if it would make me sleepy, though, lol!
DeleteI love listening to music while writing, although I'm not one to make a particular playlist for my books. Weirdly enough, I don't like music for when I'm editing.
ReplyDeleteJeanne, no distractions, especially while editing, is probably a good thing:)
DeleteI've never been able to write to music--even instrumentals. Wish I could.
ReplyDeleteJeff, I'm kind of surprised that so many people don't/can't write to music. Makes sense, though:)
DeleteOh I love the toon, very funny! I do listen to music when I write but it has to be something with limited vocals in it or else I start singing along and NO ONE wants that! LOL!
ReplyDeleteElise, I hear ya, nobody wants to hear me sing, either. But I do anyway, lol!
DeleteThat comic is awesome! I love listening to music while I write, but have to have a pretty specific mix. It really does help to get me in the right frame of mind. During revisions though, well, anything goes!
ReplyDeleteMeradeth, I'm loving the mix of comments and answers I'm getting!
DeleteHi Gwen. I think it's my first time visiting your place? Love the cartoon...
ReplyDeleteI love listening to instrumental music as a source of inspiration... but when I'm busy writing, it's generally quiet...
great cartoon! cant listen to music while writing/editing...too distracting, have to sing along!
ReplyDeleteI listen to a wide array of tunes when writing. Classical. Hard rock. B-52s. Whatever I feel like at the time works for me.
